The Topical Benefits of Green Tea - DIY Green Tea Toner

Green tea has been consumed for thousands of years for its various health benefits, but did you know that green tea has topical benefits as well?

Applying green tea to the skin can really improve your complexion by lessening excess oil production, balancing the skin's PH, and calming redness.

So I thought to myself, why not make a toner out of it with a few more added benefits? And so here it is! Click the video below to find out more about the topical benefits of green tea!

Green Tea For Beauty and Green Tea Toner

This green tea toner is light and refreshing and really quick and easy to throw together. I recommend keeping it in the fridge, especially during the summer to keep it fresh for up to a week. This toner will stay germ-free for only a few days since it has zero preservatives. the good news is, it's so easy to make that this shouldn't be too much trouble. I often save a bit of my morning green tea to make a fresh batch as needed.

Green Tea Toner Recipe- What You'll Need

• 1 small glass spray bottle (you can find them here)
• 1 small funnel
• measuring spoons
• 1 or more essential oils of your choice (lavender, tea tree, rosemary...etc! I used this one)
• 1 TBS raw apple cider vinegar
• 1 bag of green tea

Green Tea Toner Ingredients

• 7 TBS strongly steeped green tea of your choice
• 1 scant TBS of raw apple cider vinegar
• 5 drops essential oil (you can get high-quality essential oils here)

Check out my video tutorial below 🙂

This will last for 2 weeks! I like to keep mine in the fridge to bump up the de-puffing qualities a bit more.

Use this green tea toner morning and night for best results. I think you'll like this natural acne treatment =)

NOTE: I recommend being a bit careful with this toner if you have open blemishes because it might sting a bit. Omitting the apple cider vinegar and essential oils will be a much better option. The pure green tea will still work wonders for your skin. I recommend keeping it in the fridge since it has no essential oils in it to keep it fresh.

I have matcha green tea powder that I just put abt 2 tsp into some store bought drinking water and some acv (didn't really precisely measure i thinj i put 2tsp of that too) and shook it up all together. And keep it in the fridge. Should I have steeped the green tea? The direction on the green tea says you can drink it hot or cold, just add it to water, so that's why I didn't "brew" it like I would with regular tea bags.
You say you keep it for two weeks. Should I throw away and make a new batch every two weeks?

      Hi there!

using match tea is a great toner to use! You don't need to brew it to get its benefits so you're ok there 🙂 Also, if you are mixing it with ACV then it should last quite a while because vinegar is a preservative. I would keep on eye on the mixture and see how it ages. If you only add acv to the matcha then it will last for months! Regular green tea tends to go rancid after 2 weeks when it's brewed so that's why I have to keep it in the fridge.

      Best of luck!

Try adding a bit of Manuka honey to make it even more healing and
anti-bacterial. It might even last longer in your medicine cabinet.

My life was previously messed up because of cystic acne consistently. I used to shut myself away because of the problem. I tried every outrageous process in the industry. It didn't disappear. Then I came across the Acne Executioner site (Google it) and my acne problems went away. I actually enjoy looking at pictures of myself at this point.

Do you wash your face first before using the toner or after using the toner?
And Thanks! I don't have those oils but will Calendula oil work? I got that. And I already use it on my face with a honey wash and it works wonderful!

      Hi there,

I would try to use it within a week if you keep it near your bathroom sink. If you keep it in the fridge, it could last up to 2 weeks =)

I like to use olive oil as a natural make-up remover. It's cheap, doesn't clog your pores, and effortlessly takes off the most stubborn make-up. I've heard of some people using it as a natural moisturizer, but I find that it can look too shiny for use during the day. Not sure if this answered your question, but please let me know otherwise! =)
